About the Author: Hans Meeder is a recognized expert in all aspects of career-connected learning, including understanding teen and young adult career aptitudes and motivation, career and technical education, career development, and work-based learning. He has conducted research on these topics and authored numerous reports, blogs, podcasts, and books, including The Power and Promise of Pathways. Hans serves as Senior Fellow for Education and Workforce Innovation with YouScience, a firm providing cutting-edge education technology solutions and professional services relating to career-connected learning. Hans began his career as a policy analyst in the U.S. House of Representatives and joined the U.S. Department of Education to become a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education. In this role, he led the Department of Education’s High School Initiative, and also guided policy development for the implementation of the Perkins Act and the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act. Other prior service includes roles as Executive Director of the 21st Century Workforce Commission and a Senior Vice President with the National Alliance of Business. In 2012, Hans was the co-founder and CEO of the National Center for College and Career Transitions (NC3T) which merged with YouScience in 2022.
Hans earned his B.A. from the University of Maryland and holds an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife, and is the father of four adult children.
